A male prisoner can be strip-searched by a female guard even if male officers are available, a federal appeals court has ruled. In a decision, the Ninth U. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco dismissed an Arizona inmate's claims that jail officials had violated his rights by having a female guard trainee search inside his shorts and pat down his genitals. The inmate, Charles Byrd , was in Maricopa County's minimum-security Durango Jail awaiting trial in October when officials ordered searches of everyone in his unit after a series of fights. Byrd was ordered to strip down to his shorts. A female cadet from a training academy pulled out his waistband, patted down his groin through the shorts and felt his buttocks to check for contraband, the court said.

I often saw many Jews entering gas chambers in a row, stripped naked, in films set in the Second World War. And lots of naked Jewish women and men were forced to run through streets to a hill and were all shot dead there. And some anti-Semitic citizens and children were yelling at the naked Jews. At the 'death camps' the men were immediately separated and so were the women and children.

The women were ordered to line up outdoors, strip, and toss their clothes onto the concrete in front of them. Beneath their bare feet, oil from the buses that regularly idled on the same spot mingled with blood left by previous waves of female prisoners. Guards cursed, barked commands, made crude jokes about the odor, snickered at the naked bodies. They ordered the women to stand so close that their shoulders touched.
